Curriculum Vita:


Dr. Schupp is a Western New York native. After earning his B.S. degree in Biological Sciences at Cornell University, he earned both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Criminology & Criminal Justice at the University at Albany—SUNY. He teaches System-wide Issues in CRJ, CRJ Ethics, and Organizational and White Collar Crime in the graduate program, as well as Principles of Justice and Corrections and Imprisonment in the undergraduate program. He also leads the Department’s Spring Study Abroad program. His scholarly interests include the sociology of mass incarceration, philosophical justifications for penal punishment, criminal justice ethics, as well as corporate and elite crime and deviance. His research has appeared in journals such as Critical Issues in Justice and Politics, Criminal Justice Policy Review, and Journal of Criminal Justice Research. He is a member of both the American Society of Criminology and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He is also a long-time member of human rights organizations Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch as well as reproductive rights defense organizations Planned Parenthood and NARAL.
