Chris Aquino returned to Niagara University in 2009 as an assistant professor of accounting after beginning his teaching career as an adjunct faculty member at Bellevue College in Bellevue, Wash. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, N.Y., Chris attended local schools and then enrolled at Niagara University, graduating in 1985, with a B.B.A. in Accounting and a B.S. in Information Sciences. He was also a member of the Varsity Tennis Team while an undergraduate student.
Upon graduation from NU, Chris accepted a position at Deloitte and Touche in Buffalo as an auditor. Chris later obtained a controller position at Waste Technology Services, now of Lewiston, N.Y., where he worked for 10 years as the controller. During this time, he returned to Niagara to obtain his MBA with a concentration in Accounting in 1994.
In 1996, Chris accepted a position with Rotella Capital Management, now of Bellevue, Wash., and became chief financial officer, as well as a member of the Board of Directors, of this hedge fund until his retirement from private business in 2007.
His decision to attend the AACSB Bridge program fueled his desire to begin a second career in education and allowed him to follow his dream of teaching and returning to his alma mater to instill the same love of learning that has followed him throughout his life. For Chris, “There is no place I’d rather be than NU.” Go Eagles!
