Dr. Monica Romeo, LMHC
Director of Counseling Services
Monica is a New York state licensed mental health counselor and currently works as the Director of Niagara University's Counseling Center. She holds her doctoral degree in Counselor Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Monica earned her master of science in Mental Health Counseling from Niagara University and has a concentration in Substance Abuse Counseling. Monica has worked for 20 years in the field of mental health, particularly working with the college student population, as well as providing child and family therapy.
Monica has an extensive background in the field of assessment and crisis management. Her varied mental health experience has allowed her to practice individual, family and in group therapy. Advocacy and collateral therapies are also an integral portion of her range of mental health practice.
Monica's areas of specialty include crisis intervention and management, child and family therapy, PTSD, substance abuse counseling, treatment of autism spectrum disorders, and the treatment of people with personality disorders. Monica is also trained and certified as a QPR Gatekeeper Instructor, which is a suicide prevention program. She also provides supervision to mental health counseling students interning with Counseling Services.
