Financial Aid Checklist

  1. Estimate Your Costs
    Use our cost calculator to determine your estimated cost to attend NU and the types of financial aid you may receive.
  2. Submit Financial Aid & FASFA
    Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by Feb. 15, 2016, at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Filing student and parent tax returns prior to submitting the FAFSA will make some financial aid processes easier.
  3. Review Your Award Notice
    In early March, freshmen who have filed a FAFSA and submitted all requested documents, will receive an official financial aid award letter by mail. This is the only notice that will be sent by mail. All revision notifciations will be sent electroncially. Students can also view their current award letter at any time on MyNU.
  4. Submit Verification Info
    If selected, plan to submit verification information to Niagara's Financial Aid Office.
  5. Attend A Financial Aid Presentation
    Plan to attend a Niagara financial aid presentation during Niagara’s summer orientation sessions.
  6. Finish & Become a Purple Eagle
    In July, you will receive your first invoice for tuition, fees and campus housing. By mid-August confirm registration, pay any outstanding balance. Then, get ready to become a Purple Eagle!
