- July 26, 2013
- The Leary Theatre within the Elizabeth Ann Clune Center for Theatre, Clet Hall, NU campus.
From July 25 to Aug. 3, Niagara University Theatre will present a free theater for young audiences (TYA) production, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? presented by the Friends of Niagara University Theatre.
Have You Filled A Bucket Today? will be directed by Terri Filips Vaughan, associate professor, dance/choreographer, for Niagara University’s Department of Theatre and Fine Arts. The play is based on a heartwarming book by Carol McCloud that encourages positive behavior. A family friendly play, the production is open to all ages, and is especially appropriate for elementary school age children.
The colorful characters in the play, from children to a professor and a bucket-filling fairy, all spotlight the rewards of expressing daily kindness, appreciation and love. Audiences discover that bucket filling and dipping are effective metaphors for understanding the effects of our actions and words on the well-being of others. Actors in the production include NU theatre performance students Matt Gilbert, MacKenzie Gildemeyer, Anna Krempholtz, Josephine Lazusky, Jean O’Harrow, Preston Williams, Phoebe Wright and Jessica Yagoda. They are joined by local children who will portray campers: Jamie O’Malley, K. J. Stevens, and Jadyn and Kelsey Wagner. Stage manager of the production is performance major Amy Mings, while design/technology major Nick Seres is set and lighting designer. Associate professors Maureen T. Stevens and Marilyn Deighton will provide costumes.
