Kathryn DeCecco is a Buffalo native who has been in and associated with the hospitality industry for 15 years. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Administration from Boston University and also holds an MBA from Niagara University.
Katie has worked for various hospitality related organizations including DMO’s, restaurants, hotels and catering companies. Most recently, she worked for Hart Hotels as a sales manager and for the Hyatt Regency Buffalo, first as their group rooms coordinator and later as corporate sales manager.
Katie has been a member of the Western New York Hotel Motel Association, the New York State Business Travel Association, Meeting Professionals International, and Buffalo Niagara Travel Professionals. She is currently a member of the American Hotel and Lodging Association and also a board member for the Heritage Centers Foundation.
In 2007, Katie participated in the international volunteer program, Cross Cultural Solutions. She served in the township of Nyanga, outside of Cape Town, South Africa, where she worked at a center for women and children with HIV and AIDS.
Katie began her tenure at NU in 2008 as the Director of Experiential Opportunities for the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management. She helps students find internships and eventually full time positions upon graduation. She also works with alumni and serves as a liaison to the hospitality, tourism and sport industries. Additionally, she oversees some of the college’s renowned international programs. Katie loves working with students to help them increase their marketability to employers, discover their passions and develop into future industry leaders.
