The Niagara Legacy – Alumni of Distinction Eligibility Requirements

The requirements for eligibility are:

  • Nominees will have successfully pursued a course of study that was within the standards and practices of the university at the time of their matriculation.
  • Consideration of non-degree holders will be at the advisement of the selection committee.
  • Honorary degree recipients who did not attend Niagara University are not eligible for consideration.
  • Nominees must have:
    1. demonstrated outstanding accomplishments and excellence in their field of endeavor;
    2. lived lives, both personally and professionally, that mirror the Vincentian ideals of NU; and
    3. affected a positive and lasting impact on society.
  • Nominees may be inducted posthumously.
  • Niagara University reserves the right to remove an alum after he or she has been inducted into The Niagara Legacy – Alumni of Distinction should events warrant it and the selection committee deem it appropriate.

All nominations must be received no later than Aug. 1, 2013. The selection committee will meet the second week of August and honorees will be notified by mid-August.

The selection committee will consist of representatives from the following areas:

  • Office of Alumni Engagement
  • Military Science Department
  • NU ROTC alum
  • Niagara University community/alumni members

Niagara University ROTC Military Hall of Fame Eligibility Requirements

  • Nominees must have successfully pursued a course of study that was within the standards and practices of the university at the time of their matriculation.
  • Nominees must have participated in the Niagara University ROTC program and discharged under honorable conditions.
  • Nominees must have received Military Service achievements.
  • Nominees must have:
    1. demonstrated lasting contributions to society and/or local communities;
    2. lived lives, both personally and professionally, that mirror the Vincentian ideals of NU; and
    3. achieved a level of authority/prominence in military and/or civilian careers (a copy of DD 214 and/or award or decoration certificates must be submitted with the nomination packet)
  • Nominees may be inducted posthumously.
  • Niagara University reserves the right to remove an alum after he or she has been inducted into The Niagara University Military Hall of Fame should events warrant it and the selection committee deem it appropriate.

All nominations must be received no later than Aug. 1, 2013. The selection committee will meet the second week of August and honorees will be notified by mid-August.
