Dr. Leanne Vida

Dr. Leanne Vida is thrilled to be an adjunct professor of voice here at Niagara University! For the program, Dr. Leanne teaches applied voice lessons and sophomore vocal performance.

Professional Experience


In addition to teaching voice at NU, Dr. Leanne is the adjunct professor of voice at Brock University, a music instructor at Ridley College, and maintains a small teaching studio at her home in St. Catharines, Ontario. She also coaches a small choral chamber group as part of the Avanti Choral Mentorship Program.
An active performer, Leanne sings in two choirs (Avanti Chamber Singers, Ther Edison Singers), 3 bands (High Fidelity, Temple of Night, Minuscule), and frequently performs as a soprano soloist and session musician. Stage credits include Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Angelica (Suor Angelica), Ruth (The Pirates of Penzance), Chorus (La Boheme), Lady Billows (Albert Herring), Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro), Magda Sorel (The Consul), Mrs. Lovett (Sweeny Todd), Sister Mary Amnesia (Nunsense), Mrs. Gross (Turn of the Screw), Elle (La Voix Humaine), The Baker’s Wife (Into the Woods), and Mistress Quickly (Falstaff) among many others. Leanne has also worked as musical director/vocal coach for long-running productions of The Rocky Horror Show and Little Shop of Horrors.

Current Projects/Research


Recent research projects include a curriculum of Canadian art song, and the development of a meditation technique specifically for singers and performers. Leanne has a number of research publication credits.
