Bachelor of Science
Biology program provides pre-professional education and training for students of health sciences.
The program grants access to high quality, laboratory-rich learning environments, and includes an integrated and contemporary knowledge of biology to prepare students for graduate degrees and careers beyond the classroom.
The curriculum strongly emphasizes hands-on learning, and incorporates lecture and laboratory formats into all levels of the program. Freshman and sophomores gain foundational knowledge and skills from courses in general biology, anatomy and physiology, ecology, and microbiology.
Students may also elect to add minors in public health, environmental studies, environmental science, or natural sciences.
The Niagara University Science Training and Research (NUSTAR) Fellowship seeks to enable self-motivated, goal-oriented, and academically exceptional students to carry out high-impact and collaborative research with Niagara’s science faculty. Please note that you must still apply for admission to Niagara University.
Biology majors can intern in medical or environmental positions; gain experience at local hospitals; work with faculty on independent research projects; or study field ecology at study sites in the U.S. and the Caribbean.
Studies are focused in the B. Thomas Golisano Center for Integrated Sciences, a state-of-the-art, integrated science facility. The 50,000-square-foot center houses 18 laboratories, and dedicated areas for teaching, tissue culture, microscopy, microarray analysis, and more.
Niagara faculty and distinguished alumni, through their considerable experience, assist biology students in their preparation for medical, dental, graduate, and other professional schooling.
