Overview of Management Program

Management program is designed to be a balanced and flexible choice for students who anticipate becoming managers in a variety of enterprises, from large global firms, to small family businesses.

The B.S. in Management is a versatile degree that allows students to pursue many career paths.  All graduates have a broad knowledge of business fundamentals coupled with management skills that can be applied in many different professions.  

Students choose to focus on specific aspects of business with concentrations in: 

  • Supply Chain Management, where students are prepared for careers in operations, purchasing and distribution.  
  • General Management, which is a broad-based concentration that allows students to gain leadership skills, develop an entrepreneurial focus while gaining a broad range of managerial skills.
  • Human Resources Management is focused on developing and managing the valuable human resource, critical to the success of any organization.  
  • International Management is designed for the student who is focusing on embracing the emerging global economy and is structured so that students gain a breadth of business and management knowledge with a distinct focus on global application.

Management students gain real-world insight through simulations integrated into courses,  analysis of case studies and applied projects with business partners.  Students pursuing a B.S. in Management will study  business analytics, leadership and teamwork, conflict management, marketing communications and business operations.  

All students in this program are strongly encouraged to complete internships with one of our leading business partners as well as compete in business competitions.

Why Management at NU?

Flexible

Management majors can choose a single concentration or may opt to combine concentrations to be better prepared for a successful career in the ever-evolving world of business. Students may also opt to take advantage of the 4+1 program if they choose to pursue a graduate degree.

Experiential Learning

Gain real-world experience through regional and nationally recognized companies such as GEICO, Rich Products, Amazon and Ingram Micro. Participate in business competitions and attend local and national professional events.

Opportunity

Master critical management skills in customer relations, business strategy and decision making. Be ready and prepared to be an entrepreneur or to pursue a career with some of the world’s most innovative companies.

Many professors in the supply chain management program have industry experience, past and present, in high-level positions throughout the supply chain industry. Students are required to think as a manager would with active learning programs in industry-leading simulations and case studies. Professors are very accessible to their students and alumni, allowing students to build relationships that last beyond graduation.
