NU offers an accelerated nursing program for individuals who possess a bachelor’s degree in another field and are interested in a second career as a professional registered nurse.
The Accelerated Second Degree Bachelor of Science program is run cohort-style, in which a group of students advance through the curriculum together. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the Registered Nurse Licensing Examination (NCLEX).
Students will complete 675 clinical hours in a variety of healthcare settings and 57 academic credits as they pursue the accelerated second-degree option over 12 months of study. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam for licensure.

Once a cohort is full, applicants who are still interested in the program but did not meet the criteria for acceptance may defer their application to a future semester. Applicants may use this time to work on their prerequisite courses.
*Students who have been dismissed from another nursing program are ineligible for the accelerated nursing program.
The ASDBS program runs over 12 months and admits students twice annually (January and May).
Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for competency in nursing practice through continued learning and professional development.
Assume a leadership role in meeting national and local goals in nursing and healthcare.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Niagara University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
