Accounting is the financial language of business as it supports the process of analyzing, measuring, and communicating business activities.
Students at NU learn the accounting processes in small, interactive classes and work one-on-one with a distinctive group of faculty made up of internationally recognized teachers and seasoned professionals who possess extensive industry and teaching experience. Open-door policies are the norm for NU faculty, so students have quick and easy access to these industry experts to ask questions and solve problems.
Students pursuing a B.B.A. have the option to minor in fraud examination and/or data analytics, and complete courses in nonprofit accounting, forensics, and public accounting.
An optional 4+1 or 3+1 program accelerates the timeline for adding an M.S. in finance or M.B.A., and being prepared to sit for the CPA exam. Students who opt to pursue a CPA have the opportunity to take coursework to prepare for the professional exam.
Through NU’s award-winning Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, students have a major positive impact on members of the local community.
Members of the Beta Alpha Psi accounting honor society engage with local professionals to develop a strong professional network during their undergraduate studies. Students also travel internationally to explore differences in accounting and business practices in other countries.
All members of the accounting faculty are CPAs, licensed professionals and/or doctrinally trained in the accounting field. Many of the faculty hold other professional credentials as well.
