Dr. Chandra Foote

Biography


Dr. Chandra J. Foote began at Niagara University in the summer of 1996 and progressed to the level of full professor in the Department of Teacher Education. Dr. Foote has served as the dean of the College of Education since 2015. Dr. Foote is an educational psychologist with special focus on learning, motivation, and assessment. Dr. Foote is also a certified elementary teacher in New York State with administrative experience in head start programming.

Focus of Teaching


Dr. Foote’s primary teaching responsibilities are in the Department of Teacher Education where she teaches EDU 536 Human Learning, Development, and Motivation and EDU 530 Managing the Culturally Responsive Classroom. Most of Dr. Foote’s teaching is conducted in on-line or hybrid format. Dr. Foote also taught EDU 450 Early Childhood Philosophy and Practice (with a study abroad trip to Italy) and EDU 333 Special Olympics Coaching and Games Management.

Current Research


Dr. Foote has great interest in inclusive special education with publications on this topic in the International Journal of Special Education and American National Biography. Dr. Foote is interested in improving teaching practice and assessment in higher education, publishing recently with colleagues in The Journal of Technology and Teacher Education, and The Journal of Effective Teaching.

Current Involvement


Dr. Foote became a member of the board of the Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges for Teacher Education (AILACTE) in 2018, and a member of the board of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) in 2021. She also serves on the boards of the Niagara Falls Library, and USA Niagara Development Corporation.

Educational Background


Dr. Foote holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in psychology from Syracuse University where she also earned a B.S. in Elementary Education.
