What we do

Niagara University’s Intercultural Engagement Center is firmly committed to creating a diverse culture for our students. A culture that respects and embraces diversity and inclusion, regardless of your race, color, sexual orientation or gender. We aim to help students maximize their college experience and empower them to achieve success both academically and personally.

  • The campus office (located in Lower Level Gallagher) supports a wide variety of events and programs relating to culture and diversity (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Week, Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, Native American History Month, food/culture nights, panel discussions, and the Washington D.C. Bus Trip).
  • The IEC space is open to the entire NU community! We have the perfect place to socialize and engage with your peers in a welcoming environment.
  • Our office works to support the success and goals of cultural clubs on campus. Through a variety of educational and immersive events and programs, the IEC showcases the importance of culture and diversity.
  • The IEC is inclusive of all members of the NU community.

Resources

Sociocultural clubs are interactive student groups that focus their missions on recognizing the cultures and history of marginalized identity groups. These organizations engage in the celebration and education of cultural identities by offering immersive experiences, provide an outlet for individuality and cultural expression, and further the understanding and acceptance of marginalized cultural identities. The goal of sociocultural clubs is to provide a sense of belonging and community for students of underrepresented identities and cultures on campus.
