Mathematics program is excellent training for a plethora of careers and an in-demand college major from all sorts of employers.
With science and technology playing ever-increasing roles in our society, skills in mathematics are paramount. Demand for mathematical skills has grown considerably in recent decades. People seeking careers in actuarial science, business, finance, engineering, government service, industrial or government research, information technology, and education (to name a few) would all benefit from mathematical training.
Our Mathematics program focuses on problem solving skills through developing intellectual thought and logical problem solving skills. We have two programs. The BS in Math is very rigorous and prepares students for graduate school. The BA in Math is much more flexible and is good for students who want to pursue a double Major.
The coursework combines many pure, applied and statistics course to give students a wide range of problem solving skills so that they will be successful in the job market or in graduate school. The curriculum encourages students to do a minor in another discipline so that they can combine their math skills with other areas of study.
Our class sizes are small. The math classes starting in your sophomore year will have around ten students per class. The students will get a lot of individual attention from the faculty to help them succeed.
Many of our faculty conduct research with students. The faculty have varied research interests from pure math to applied math to statistics. We regularly bring students to conferences, and we help with finding internships and employment after graduation.
The students all have a concentration in a different discipline. Therefore they will be able to apply their math degree to another field.
