Current Research
Dr. Michael Barg’s research interests include extending a model of an inflatable membrane to accommodate an orthotropic film. Such membranes can be realized as large scientific balloons for example. The work includes establishing existence results, numerically calculating energy minimizing shapes, and estimating maximum principal strains in the film.
Current Involvement
Dr. Michael Barg is a member of the Mathematical Association of America, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
