Biography
Mr. Patrick O’Meara, CPA, is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Holzschuh College of Business Administration. He is professionally qualified to teach accounting, taxation, finance and financial planning courses. He has been recognized for his teaching skills with three awards.
In 2021, the Association of International CPA’s awarded him a teaching excellence award for his work in the classroom. In 2022, he was awarded the Global Distinguished Excellence in Teaching award by the AICPA-CIMA. In 2023, Niagara University acknowledged his work as a post-secondary teacher with its Excellence in Teaching Award.
Professor O’Meara holds an MBA from Niagara University, Lewiston, NY, USA and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor, Canada.
He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). In addition, he is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Registered Retirement Consultant (RRC) and a Chartered Financial Planner.
Professor O’Meara has taught at Red Deer Polytechnic and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), both in Canada. He has also held posts as Chair of Business and Commerce programs at the Donald School of Business, Red Deer Polytechnic, and Chair of Accounting, Finance and Economics programs at the school of business at Centennial College, Toronto, Canada. He is the principal of the Innovative Scholar Inc. and has written four books on topics, such as, personal credit, personal finance and mutual funds and most recently cost and management accounting.
Professor O’Meara teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Financial and Management Accounting, as well as, Investments and Corporate Finance at both Niagara University’s Lewiston, NY, and Vaughan, Ontario campus’.
Prior to joining Niagara University’s Holzschuh College of Business Administration, Professor O’Meara was Senior Director of Training Services at the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning (CIFP).
